Deriving inherent optical properties and associated inversion-uncertainties in the Dutch Lakes

چکیده
Remote sensing of water quality in inland waters requires reliable retrieval algorithms, accurate atmospheric correction and consistent method for uncertainty estimation. In this paper, the GSM semi-analytical inversion model is modified for inland waters to derive inherent optical properties (IOPs) and their spectral dependencies from air and space borne data. The modified model was validated using two data sets from the Veluwe and the Vecht Dutch lakes. For the Veluwe lakes, the model was able to derive a linear relationship between measured concentrations and estimated IOPs with R2 values above 0.7 for chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) and up to 0.9 for suspended particulate matters (SPM). In the Vecht lakes, the modified model derived accurate values of IOPs. The R2 values were 0.89 for Chl-a and up to 0.95 for SPM. The RMSE values were 0.93 mg m−3 and 0.56 g m−3 for Chl-a and SPM respectively. Finally, the IOPs of the Veluwe lakes are derived from multi-spectral, ocean color and hyperspectral airborne data. Inversion-uncertainties of the derived IOPs were also estimated using a standard nonlinear regression technique. The study shows that inversionuncertainties of remote sensing derived IOPs are proportional to water turbidity.

Adaptive attitude controller of a reentry vehicles based on Back-stepping Dynamic inversion method
This paper presents an attitude control algorithm for a Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV) with a low lift/drag ratio (L/D < 0.5), in the presence of external disturbances, model uncertainties, control output constraints and the thruster model. The main novelty of proposed control strategy is a new combination of the attitude control methods included backstepping, dynamic inversion and adaptive cont...
متن کاملCapability of the Stochastic Seismic Inversion in Detecting the Thin Beds: a Case Study at One of the Persian Gulf Oilfields
The aim of seismic inversion is mapping all of the subsurface structures from seismic data. Due to the band-limited nature of the seismic data, it is difficult to find a unique solution for seismic inversion. Deterministic methods of seismic inversion are based on try and error techniques and provide a smooth map of elastic properties, while stochastic methods produce high-resolution maps of el...
متن کاملUncertainty in fundamental natural frequency estimation for alluvial deposits
Seismic waves are filtered as they pass through soil layers, from bedrock to surface. Frequencies and amplitudes of the response wave are affected due to this filtration effect and this will result in different ground motion characteristics. Therefore, it is important to consider the impact of the soil properties on the evaluation of earthquake ground motions for the design of structures. Soil ...
متن کاملModulation Response and Relative Intensity Noise Spectra in Quantum Cascade Lasers
Static properties, relatively intensity noise and intensity modulation response in quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) studied theoretically in this paper. The present rate equations model consists of three equations for the electrons density in the conduction band and one equation for photons density in cavity length. Two equations were derived to calculate the noise and modulation response. Calcula...

This paper studies theuncertain nonlinear dynamics of a MEMS optical switch addressing electrical, mechanical and optical subsystems. Recently, MEMS optical switch has had significant merits in reliability, control voltage requirements and power consumption. However, an inherent weakness in designing control for such systems is unavailability of switch position information at all times due to t...
